When you are working a home based business, you must develop a system and work that system.  Why a system?

A system holds you accountable.  A system allows you the opportunity to track and test and make adjustments.  A system gives you the framework to share your success with others.

So once you have your system, are there a few tricks and tips and techniques that can help you go ‘over the top’?  You bet there are!

Here are just a few:

1) Try tracking your sales rather than your opt-in rates.  It is really easy to keep track of opt-in rates and use that as a gauge for the success of a traffic source.  But if you track each sale back to the source, the sales might tell a different story.

2) Get more organized.  Create a new folder on your desktop.  ‘Online resources’  In that folder, have a collection of other folders, one for each type of product or tool or email you receive.  It is too easy to save free gifts, tools, and quality emails for your swipe file, but when you are looking for them a month down the road, you have no idea how to find what you are looking for.  You don’t remember the cryptic name you saved it under (as3rfgh56.xyz).  You don’t remember which file your computer so helpfully suggested you place it in.

3) Send your email list a survey.  What do they want you to write about?  What products are they looking for?  How can you better serve them?

4) Change up your signature on your email from time to time.  Maybe you have a new web site or a new affiliate program most of those on your daily emailing list have not seen.  After awhile, your same old signature becomes boring.  Change it up!

5) Go back to the basics.  When you hit a plateau, ask yourself what you did when you first started growing.  You may think, but that was so amateur!  But who cares, if it was creating growth.  Do what works, not what everyone else thinks you should be doing.

When you have a crystal clear vision from following the steps above it allows you to plot your life out and become the type of person you have always wanted to be.
Lose Bad Habits and Adopt Productive Habits

Educate yourself by reading various subjects to make yourself more well rounded. Think an opportunity through and do not be impulsive when an opportunity presents itself.  Develop a healthy diet and be sure to exercise your body frequently. Success starts from within by having a strong healthy mind and body. Be in good health and don t take your good health for granted. Develop a laser targeted focus when you set forth a goal and complete it. Don t use distractions as an excuse to fail.

Embrace the Challenge

My number one rule to success is having fun along the way. Anything worth doing will have its setbacks and challenges. Just remember to have a good sense of humor when you find yourself getting frustrated and let trivial things roll off your back. You absolutely must test everything you do, and testing your squeeze page is no exception.  You must have a method to test how different changes in your script create different opt-in rates to your list.

There are many different ways to do this, and they will depend somewhat on your existing software and programs.

If your auto responder service offers tracking, and especially if they have the ability to rotate the web form, then you can track the sign-up percentage via your auto responder.  For example, one web form might offer a free book, while the other offers a coupon for 25% off the first order at your web site.  Which offer gets the highest sign-up percentage?  You might test two different headlines against each other.  Which one gets the highest sign-up percentage?  Test everything you do, and only test one change at a time.  If you make three changes, and the response rate goes up, that is pretty useless information if you don’t know which element made the change occur.

Another way to do it is to create several different squeeze pages, each with one change on it.  You subscribe to a web URL rotator service, and each of the different test pages will be viewed in succession by each successive visitor.  When you run your advertising (or whatever you are doing to generate traffic) you will put in the rotator link rather than the squeeze page link.  Each time someone clicks on the rotator link, the rotator will rotate to the next squeeze page.  You can then compare sign-up rates between the different squeeze pages.

Once again you want your business to be automated so you can get back to spending time with your family and doing the things you love, don’t make the mistake of creating something that you are tied down too every minute of the day. Key #3:

You must be able to earn your return on investment (ROI) as fast as possible. A lot of people end up spending a great deal of time on their home based business and start to get some results but don’t generate profit for a long time and end up getting discouraged and give up. So what is decent amount of time before you see profit? My thoughts are you want to start seeing profit in less than 30 days.
